Fact of the matter is:
you are your work.
24/7, 365.
Naturally, you NEED to take advantage of days off, but essentially, even when you’re not working, you are working. You may give up quality time with friends and leisure time with your Sega Dreamcast, with no time for parties or nonchalantly going about life as leisurely as you used to. Acting a fool on Facebook for all to see? NAH. Taking selfies every 5 seconds for Instagram? NOPE. Hours browsing on Tumblr? HA! These may just well be my final days of immaturity.
GROW UP, basically.
Success requires sacrifice.
This also means that I can’t just be an artist; I need to be a businessman. The real world is not going to take you seriously unless you’re serious. There are sharks out there, and the way NYC prices are skyrocketing, you can’t just be some guppy getting by with a melancholy expression expecting things to work out on dreams & wishes with no blood & sweat.
I’ll die for this.
But I’ll also live for it.
I will not be eaten alive. Throw me in the jungle and I’ll turn that heaux into a wildlife preserve, rocking the fly Balenciaga cashmere-gloss lion-skin boxer-briefs, with some bad gazelles as my secretaries, fetching my ice-coffee from the waters of Lake Minnetonka (I actually don’t drink coffee, but it sounds cool to reference) (I only know that Prince reference from the Chapelle skit).
